Food, nutrition and the environment are global public issues, according to the leader of the Catholic Church, Pope Francis.
The Pope was attending the Second International Conference on Nutrition in Rome, Italy, to give an address to more than 170 government representatives.
He urged solidarity and concrete action to combat the global nutrition challenge.
The Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimates that more than 800 million people around the world don’t have enough to eat, while 500 million are overweight or obese.
