Situation stabilizing in Central African Republic capital: UN envoy

The situation in Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic is stabilizing after a prolonged period of unrest and violence, according to the top United Nations envoy in the region.

The Central African Republic or CAR has been mired in conflict since December 2012 between militias from the Christian and Muslim communities which has displaced thousands of people.

Abdoulaye Bathily, the Head of the UN Regional Office for Central Africa (UNOCA) is in Bangui to attend a meeting of the International Contact Group for CAR which opened on Tuesday.

Mamadou Alpha Diallo caught up with Mr Bathily who first spoke about the meeting of the International Contact Group.
