People in the Philippines are building a new life for themselves one year after a typhoon devastated the country, killing more than 6,000.

The central part of the South-east Asian nation was hit by Typhoon Haiyan in November 2013, wiping out entire communities and destroying some 600,000 hectares of farmland.

The UN Refugee Agency, UNHCR reports that residents of hard-hit areas such as Leyte Island are beginning to prosper again.

But as Edward Colt reports memories of the devastation are still strong.
