Child poverty has increased in many of the world’s wealthy nations because of the impact on households of the 2008 global financial crisis.
The report by the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF) estimates that the well-being of 2.6 million children has been affected since 2008.
The research was undertaken in 41 countries in the European Union as well as other affluent nations around the world.
In the United States, children in 34 out of 50 states have been living in poverty since the start of the economic crisis.
