Continuing to ignore Africa’s humanitarian crises is a risk for global peace and security.
António Guterres, the head of the UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) issued the warning on Monday during a high-level meeting on refugees in Africa.
According to UNHCR, there are more than 3 million refugees in Africa, 12.5 million displaced and some 700,000 stateless people.
The agency is calling for more robust international support and burden-sharing to end Africa’s displacement crisis.
