Poverty and inequality are on the increase in the Pacific according to a report released by the UN Development Programme, UNDP.

The “State of Human Development in the Pacific” report reveals that one in four people on twelve Pacific Ocean islands are living below the poverty line.

The findings have been released on the margins of the Small Island Developing States or SIDS conference which is being held in Samoa.

Daniel Dickinson asked Haoliang Xu, the UNDP Regional Director for Asia and the Pacific about poverty across the region.
