The outbreak of Ebola in West Africa remains a serious health problem in the region but it appears to have been understated, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

The UN health agency says that 1, 069 people have died from the diseases out of 1,975 cases reported in Guinea, Liberia, Nigeria and Sierra Leone.

WHO is working with UN agencies to respond to the outbreak with support from individual countries and disease control agencies.

To find out more about this Patrick Maigua spoke with Tarik Jasarevic, WHO Spokesperson in Geneva and first asked him why the agency says the Ebola outbreak in West Africa appears to have been understated.
