Chemicals commonly found in cosmetics are impacting negatively on women’s health, according to an international network of environmental and health organisations.

Women in Europe for a Common Future, WECF, recently attended the inaugural meeting of a new body, the United Nations Environment Assembly, which is focusing on moving ecological issues up the political agenda.

Its Executive Director, Sasha Gabizon, told the meeting that new policies are needed to regulate what it calls “chemical pollution” in cosmetics but also in work places where harmful chemicals are found.
