Iraq is facing serious food security concerns following the recent escalation of conflict in the country, the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) warned on Wednesday.

Over one million people have fled their homes in the last six months disrupting the harvesting of wheat and barley crops.

In total, 2 million Iraqis are now displaced within the country including those affected by previous conflicts.

Shukri Ahmed is a Senior Economist with FAO in Rome.
