Sierra Leone is aiming to become a middle income country by 2030 according to the West African country’s Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.

Speaking at the United Nations at a meeting on peacebuilding, Samura Kamara, said rebuilding a country after conflict requires a long-term vision and consistent support.

The UN mission (UNIPSIL) left Sierra Leone, at the end of March after 15 years of engagement.

More than 17,000 "blue helmets" were deployed at the height of Sierra Leone's civil war to disarm rebel militias.

The theme of the meeting on the first annual Peacebuilding Day, was “sustainable support for Peacebuilding”.

Sophie Outhwaite asked Mr Kamara, what that entails.
