About 2,000 Eritreans leave their country each month to escape human rights abuses, according to an independent expert.
Sheila Keetharuth, the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Eritrea presented her report to the UN Human Rights Council in Geneva on Wednesday.
She said that the two main reasons cited for leaving the country is the indefinite national military service and arbitrary arrests.
Sophie Outhwaite reports.
