Russia and China have vetoed a move in the UN Security Council to refer the situation in Syria to the International Criminal Court.

A draft resolution, submitted by France, would have strongly condemned the widespread violations of human rights and international humanitarian law in the ongoing conflict in Syria.

More than 100,000 people have been killed and millions of others displaced inside Syria or forced to flee to neighbouring countries.
