Providing education to previously disadvantaged communities in South Africa is one of the main priority areas for the country, according to a senior government official.

Professor Muzamani Charles Nwaila, the country’s Director-General for the Department of Traditional Affairs was at the UN to attend this year’s session of the Forum on Indigenous Issues.

He said he came to New York to report on what has been done in his homeland since freedom was attained 20 years ago to improve the lives of African people.

Professor Nwaila told Derrick Mbatha that the South African government is putting a lot of resources into education.
