A humanitarian pledging conference that has opened in Oslo, Norway could be South Sudan’s last resort to ward off an impending famine, according to the UN humanitarian agency, OCHA.

More than 4 million people are facing acute food insecurity as a result of the ongoing conflict that broke out in December last year.

The Oslo conference is expected to raise about $1.3 billion dollars in aid funding for humanitarian activities in South Sudan.

Gabriel Shaddar spoke to Vincent Lelei, Head of the UN office for the coordination of humanitarian affairs in South Sudan.
