Major seed distribution operation underway in Central African Republic

A major operation to distribute seeds and tools to support crisis-hit farming families has been launched in the Central African Republic.

It’s hoped that farmers receive the agricultural kits in time for the next planting season.

Sixteen international and national non-governmental organizations are working with the UN Food and Agriculture Organization to overcome the challenges of inaccessible roads and a deteriorating security situation.

Fighting between mainly Muslim and Christian communities in CAR has fuelled a conflict which began at the end of 2012.

Alexis Bonte is the FAO Representative for the Central African Republic, based in the capital Bangui.
