UN humanitarian agencies are using trucks, air drops and barges to deliver life saving aid to the communities affected by the conflict, according to the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

Sue Lautze said these operations are in response to a cease-fire agreement signed by President Salva Kiir and opposition leader Riek Machar on Friday.

Supporters of the two leaders have waged a five month battle that has displaced hundreds of thousands of civilians and hindered access to conflict areas.

The accord allows for an opening up of humanitarian corridors for the safe transit of relief items, Ms Lautze told Robert Ohia.
