Roads are a “critical component” of the future global poverty reduction agenda according to UNOPS, a UN agency which supports the implementation of aid and development projects across the world.

Member States of the United Nations are currently defining a new set of sustainable development goals which will replace the Millennium Development Goals, the deadline for which is 2015.
