The British government has released $13.7 million in emergency funding to help farmers affected by conflict in South Sudan restore their agriculture-based livelihoods.

The money, which comes from the United Kingdom’s Department for International Development, is being channelled through the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).

This contribution will enable FAO to help farmers get crops in the ground in the most affected areas during the current planting season which runs through early June.

Sandra Ferrari spoke with Dominique Burgeon, the Director of FAO’s Emergency and Rehabilitation Division who says he was saddened by what he saw during a recent mission to South Sudan.
