As violence continues in the Central African Republic, pitting Christian and Muslim communities against each other, efforts are being made to foster reconciliation.

It is estimated that 1, 000 people have died, although the numbers may be even higher - and hundreds of thousands of others have been displaced by the conflict in the country.

The UN Development Programme (UNDP) has launched a $26 million programme to, among other things, generate some income for people and promote dialogue.

To find out more about this initiative, UN Radio’s Derrick Mbatha sat down with Cleophas Torori of UNDP’s Regional Bureau for Africa.
