Violence is continuing in the Central African Republic despite a truce that rival militias agreed in the capital, Bangui last month.

Attacks are being carried out mainly by the anti-Balaka Christian militias against former Muslim rebels known as ex-Séléka.

It is estimated that 1, 000 people have died, although the numbers may be much higher, and hundreds of thousands of others have been displaced.

African Union and French forces are trying to help stabilize the situation so that the interim government can restore law and order in the country.

Derrick Mbatha reports.
