Countries in Asia represent the leading production hub of information and communication technology products (ICT), accounting for two thirds of world exports.

That’s according to the latest data released by the UN trade agency UNCTAD.

China alone counted for 30 per cent of the total export market for ICT goods, the report found.

Because of the growing importance of Asia both as a producer but also as a market for ICT goods, foreign companies are compelled to establish a strong presence in the region, Torbjorn Fredriksson, ICT analyst at UNCTAD told Patrick Maigua.
