Rural communities in Africa which may be largely cut off from access to information on agriculture and development are using radio to fill what’s been described as the “information gap.”

Radio remains the medium that reaches the widest audience in developing countries. Its role in promoting access to information, freedom of expression and gender equality is being celebrated on World Radio Day on February 13.

Sandra Ferrari asked Riccardo DelCastello from the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization about the importance of rural radio.
