The delivery of humanitarian aid and the evacuation of besieged people from the Syrian city of Homs has been described as a “small breakthrough” by the UN’s humanitarian office, OCHA.

Eighty-three people were evacuated from Homs on Friday during a three day pause in hostilities agreed by the warring parties.

The conflict in Syria has been going on for three years during which over 100,000 people have been killed.

Daniel Dickinson asked Amanda Pitt, the spokesperson for OCHA, for more information about the operation.
