The ongoing conflict in Syria has an alarming impact on children, a new UN report warns.

The Secretary-General’s very first report on children and armed conflict in Syria describes in detail horrific acts of child abuse committed by “all parties to the conflict” since 2011.

Children have been forced to flee their homes to escape the indiscriminate and disproportionate bombings of populated areas, while hundreds of thousands remain trapped in conflict zones with little or no access to humanitarian aid.

UN Radio’s Jocelyne Sambira spoke with Leila Zerrougui, the Secretary-General’s special representative for children and armed conflict to grasp the scale and gravity of abuse committed against Syria’s children.
