The world needs to invest in half a billion adolescent girls in developing countries if the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) are to be met. That’s according to the UN Secretary-General.

Speaking at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Ban Ki-moon, appealed to leaders from around the world to put girls at the centre of their development strategies.

The MDGs are an internationally agreed set of development goals to halve world poverty by a 2015 deadline.
