Human rights need to be at the centre of a peace deal for Syria according to a group of UN independent experts.

Talks over the future of Syria are getting underway in Switzerland on Wednesday aimed at bringing an end to three years of civil war in which over 100,000 people have been killed.

On Tuesday the Syrian authorities said a report alleging the execution of about 11,000 prisoners had no credibility.

UN experts have written an open letter ahead of the talks.

One of the signatories is Chaloka Beyani, the Special Rapporteur on the Human Rights of Internally Displaced Persons.

Daniel Dickinson asked him what he thought would come out of the meeting.
