A UN-led pledging conference held in Kuwait to raise funds for the humanitarian crisis caused by the civil war in Syria has been called a “resounding success.”

More than $2.4 billion was raised for the largest humanitarian appeal ever made by the United Nations.

Eleven million people have been affected by the ongoing conflict in Syria, in which over 100,000 people have died.

Jens Laerke is a spokesperson for the UN’s humanitarian office (OCHA) who attended the conference in Kuwait.

Daniel Dickinson asked him if the conference was a success.
