Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan concerned over continued violence

As South Sudan peace talks stall in Addis Ababa, a senior UN official is calling for the fighting to stop so that people in the world’s newest nation can begin rebuilding their lives.

Toby Lanzer, UN Humanitarian Coordinator in South Sudan, fears high hopes for the New Year have been “washed away” by violence which has killed upwards of 1,000 people and displaced 200,000 in less than a month.

He updates Derrick Mbatha on how the UN is supporting South Sudan in what he calls the country’s “greatest hour of need.”
