Banning of all forms of tobacco advertising, promotion and sponsorship will reduce the number of tobacco users, according to the World Health Organization (WHO).

On World No Tobacco Day, observed on 31 May each year, the agency is urging governments to take measures to stop the tobacco industry from advertising its deadly product.

WHO says governments must make it their top priority to stop, what the agency’s Director General has called “the industry’s shameless manipulation of young people and women, in particular, to recruit the next generation of nicotine addicts.”
