A UN independent human rights expert is calling on the Somali Government to strengthen its justice system in spite of the devastating attacks on civilians and the system’s personnel on 14 April.

Shamsul Bari says the system needs to be beefed up to ensure that the rule of law and the fight against impunity continue.

Augustine Mahiga, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Representative for Somalia, agrees.
