Conflict in eastern DR Congo worsens humanitarian crisis

20 November 2012

United Nations relief agencies are concerned about the worsening humanitarian crisis in the eastern part of the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

Rebel fighters of the M23 movement advanced on Goma, the capital of North Kivu Province, forcing people already displaced by previous conflicts to flee again.

The UN humanitarian agencies are trying to ease the plight of internally displaced persons (IDPs) who cannot get assistance because of the fighting.

Derrick Mbatha reports.
