In just two years, a global movement launched by the UN Secretary General has helped garner a lot of attention and investment for women and children’s health.

‘Every Woman, Every Child’ has raked in half of the US $20 billion pledged to save 16 million lives before 2015.

The movement counts more than 250 individual commitments by more than 100 partners, including low-income countries, donor governments, the UN, the private sector and civil society.

Joy Phumaphi, Executive Secretary for the African Leaders Malaria Alliance, is one of the independent experts responsible for assessing the progress made.

Progress has been made, Ms. Phumaphi told UN Radio’s Jocelyne Sambira, but it remains slow.
