The rights of children with disabilities featured prominently at a major United Nations meeting that concluded in New York on Friday.

Delegates gathered at UN headquarters to review implementation of the UN’s Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities.

Violence, lack of access to education and the right of children to speak for themselves were among the issues that participants identified as obstacles for young people with disabilities.
