ILO says Eurozone crisis could find young people trapped in temporary jobs

With the ongoing economic crisis in Europe, young people there are finding it harder than ever to find a job, according to the International Labour Organization (ILO).

The ILO says with unemployment reaching record highs in some countries, many youth have been forced to take on temporary employment.

Spain and Ireland, for example, have reported rapid increases in these contracts.

While temporary employment can be a good option for some young workers, the ILO warns that it could also trap them in jobs that have no chance of turning into full-time employment.

Dianne Penn discussed this issue with Theodoor Sparreboom, Senior Labour Economist at the ILO in Geneva.
