Intense fighting has caused an estimated 200,000 people to flee the Syrian city of Aleppo over the past two days, according to the UN refugee agency (UNHCR).

Many of these people are now displaced within Syria, although some have managed to cross the border into Turkey.

Meanwhile, UNHCR has opened its first tent camp for Syrian refugees in Jordan. It will initially hold up to 5,000 people and could be expanded to receive up to 100,000 refugees.

Mamadou Alpha Diallo spoke about the increased displacement in Syria with Melissa Fleming, UNHCR’s spokesperson in Geneva.
