As the first African woman to occupy the position of Deputy-Secretary- General of the United Nations, Asha-Rose Migiro is grateful for the opportunity she has had to be an inspiration to women and girls.

Ms. Migiro is leaving the UN after having served the organization for over five years.

In an interview with UN Radio’s Joshua Mmali, Ms. Migiro gives credit to Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon for acknowledging the contributions both Africa and women can make to the work of the UN.
