With 140 million people, Bangladesh is one of the world's densest populated nations and also one of the most vulnerable to the impacts of climate change, says the World Bank.

People in Bangladesh live precariously close to the risks of cyclones, floods and droughts and more than 100 million people live in rural areas.

Charles Appel describes how Bangladesh and IFAD, the International Fund for Agricultural Development, a specialized agency of the United Nations, are helping one area of the country adapt to the effects of climate change.
