An effort is underway in Chad to convince mothers of the importance of breastfeeding.

The United Nations Children’s Fund, UNICEF, says the nutritional crisis in the African country is being compounded by one of the world's lowest rates of breastfeeding - only three mothers out of every hundred exclusively breastfeed their children.

The agency has been working with local health organizations to educate new mothers about the importance of breast feeding.
