Ugandan rebels of the so-called Lord’s Resistance Army or LRA continue to perpetrate violations against children says a report of the United Nations Secretary-General to the Security Council.

It says that the LRA has abducted and recruited at least 591 children, including 268 girls.

The first report to the Security Council on the situation of children affected by the LRA also highlights measures taken to address the threat posed by the LRA in Central Africa.

The group operates mainly in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC), but also in the Central African Republic (CAR), and in South Sudan.

Gerry Adams reports.
