Victims of Sierra Leone's brutal civil war are celebrating Charles Taylor’s sentence of 50 years in prison.

Amputees got together in the capital of Freetown to watch in a cinema as the former Liberian leader received his sentence from the UN backed Special Court for Sierra Leone at the Hague.

Tens of thousands of people were killed, mutilated, raped, robbed and displaced in Sierra Leone during the decade long war.

Jabati Mambu was a teenager when he had his right hand hacked off by a machete during the war. Now he is president of the Amputee Football Team and spoke with Julie Walker about Charles Taylor’s sentence.
