The United Kingdom’s decision to establish a special rapid deployment unit that will collect evidence of rape and other sexual violence in conflict areas has been welcomed by a senior UN official.

Margot Wallström, the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Sexual Violence in Conflict, said measures like this will help build a strong case for the eventual prosecution of such crimes.
