Approximately 120,000 peacekeepers are serving at UN missions worldwide.

Their contributions are remembered every year on 29 May, the International Day of United Nations Peacekeepers.

Captain Rachel Kagia of Kenya is a military observer at the UN Stabilization Mission in the Democratic Republic of the Congo (MONUSCO).

Nana Bolodjua of Radio Okapi sat down with Captain Kagia to learn about her work as a “mil ob” and why she chose to be a UN blue helmet, the name given to peacekeepers.
