The UN special envoy for Guinea-Bissau has suggested the Security Council consider targeted measures against coup leaders.

Joseph Mutaboba gave Council members an update on the situation in the country following the seizure of power by members of the army on 12 April.

He also reaffirmed the United Nations’ condemnation of the coup d'état and underscored the importance of supporting the mediation process led by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS).
