Across the globe, insecure borders enable the trafficking of drugs, weapons, contraband, terrorist funding, materials related to weapons of mass destruction, conflict minerals, wildlife and people.

The Security Council took up the issue of strengthening the boarders of countries against these illicit materials and goods, as well as people.

Some Ambassadors brought up the problems their countries face due to lawlessness, while all agreed that more needed to be done to secure borders.
