As the world celebrates Earth Day on April 22, some experts say more effort needs to be made to stem the loss of biodiversity.

The United Nations Convention on Biological Diversity (CBD) says targets have not yet been met by some countries that have signed onto the pact.

The loss of biodiversity means that many species including plants and fish are disappearing at record rates.

Lingling Zhu spoke with David Ainsworth, the Information Officer for the Convention on Biological Diversity about how serious this loss is.
